About the Bullmastiff The Bullmastiff is a powerful dog and is a cross between the Mastiff and Bulldog. This breed has proved its value as a family pet. They make an excellent guard dog, however they can be resistant to obedience training and they can be overly protective of their human family. The Bullmastiff was recognised as a pure-bred dog in 1924 by the English Kennel Club and then in October, 1933, The American Kennel Club recognised the Bullmastiff.
