About the Canaan Dog This is a breed of dog that existed in the Middle East for centuries. This dog makes a good house pet, they work hard and are not aggressive. They are intelligent and good at problem solving. This breed is loyal and loving. The Canaan began in ancient times as a pariah dog in Israel. This dog is one of the oldest, dating to biblical times. They guarded camps and flocks as far back as 2,000 years ago. They had become scavenger dogs mainly found in the desert.
