Making clothes for your dog can be fun! There's no reason you can't create your own patterns and sew them yourself. Who is gonna know? You might even sell them to your friends!

Since most dogs are different it will most likely be easier to make your own dog clothing. Here are a few ideas on getting started.

The first thing you need to do is get your dogs measurments. Grab a measuring tape and measure your dog’s chest size. Next you'll want to measure your dogs neck and finally measure the length of your dog for clothes that will cover the entire body. Measure from the collar area to your dogs bottom.

The next step is finding or creating a pattern. You can create your own patterns by trial and error or you can find patterns online for free and for sale. You cn also get ideas from the Internet and try to copy them yourself by looking at photos.

The cheapest way to get started is to sketch out some patterns yourself. Simply sketch out an outline of your dog on a sheet of paper. Use the measurments you took to help guide you with the clothing outline. Use some flimsy type paper and you can pin the pieces together and carefully try them on your dog before you cut out the pattern.

Here are a few quick tips:

* Buy a pattern online and use it as your guide for new, custom patterns that you can create.

* Make loose fitting clothes for easier dressing. Also leave the front of the top open and use velcro instead of sewing it shut.

* Use old clothes or material to test your patterns on before you use more expensive material.

* Have fun and be creative. Your dog won't mind and the trendier the outfit, the more ohs and ahs you'll receive.
