About the Great Pyrenees
This dog is also known as the Pyrenean Mountain Dog. They are a large, loyal breed of dog that was traditionally for protecting livestock, mainly sheep, in the pasture. They are a very old breed and used for millenia by the Basque people, who live around the Pyrenees Mountains of southern France.

Pyrenees make a great family dog. You need to know that they shed lots of hair, neighbors might not like the deep booming bark, if the dog is outside alot. You need a large yard and they like lots of attention especially from children. They need obedience training and socialization at a young age. If in the field they are an excellent guardian, they can deter small pests like a fox and are a match for even a bear.
