About the Pug
Pugs are a small robust toy dog breed with a compressed, wrinkly face. They are characterized by that flat face and a curled tail. Pugs come in various colors: fawn with a black mask and ears, entirely black, silver or apricot.

Pugs don't bark much but can still be noisy. They make a grunting nasal noise that increases when they get excited. Some snore especially if overweight. Pugs are very sociable but quite stubborn. They are a very popular breed as a housepet but they will consider themselves as the boss. They are real lap dogs. They require regular exercise so they don't become obese. When exercising be careful they don't overheat, as their short noses do not cool them off like a longer nosed breed. They are intelligent and learn quickly in the right environment.

Pugs can easily scratch their corneas or puncture their eyeballs. They can develop breathng problems and are proine to skin infections.

The Pug originated in the Far East in either Korea or China around 700 BC. It was bred as a companion dog rather than a guardian. Pugs were kept by royalty, pampered and spoiled. Dutch sailors smuggled Pugs from China to Europe.
