FetchDog interesting site

Recently I was watching "The View" and one of the guests was Glenn Close, the movie star and she had her dogs with her. She was telling the hosts about a website she is associated with "Fetchdog.com". She even has a blog on the site, where she highlights people and their dogs. I checked it out and it is a really nice dog site. They state:

FetchDog began as the dream of a bunch of dog-crazy friends with a common complaint—why was there no great place online to shop for our dogs or to connect with dog experts and other dog lovers?

We wanted products that were sturdy, practical, yet beautiful to look at, not stuff that looked like it belonged in Dad's den or the garage. Take Your Dog to Work Day

First celebrated in 1999, Take Your Dog To Work Day was created to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. This annual event encourages employers to experience the value of pets in their workplace for this one special day to promote pet adoptions. This years day is going to be 20 June.

Carol Vinzant has some great thoughts on this day.

The purpose is entirely different. The daughters and sons are supposed to be learning about work world opportunities. On Dog Day, or TYDTWDay, as Pet Sitters calls it in shorthand, the dogs aren't supposed to learn anything (though I do think they're curious about where we go all day.) Instead it's your co-workers who are going to have their minds blown. The idea, according to Pet Sitters, is to encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters by showing them how much fun your dog is. Or, as they put it, "people without dogs will see the loving bond their co-workers have with their pets and will consider adopting orphaned pets for their own."

Do You Drive And Pet?

Do you drive around with your dog on your lap? A California lawmaker wants to ban motorists from holding pets on their laps while driving.

Bill Maze, a Republican from Visalia, introduced the bill after seeing a woman driving with three dogs on her lap. He says pets are a distraction that put motorists and their passengers at risk.

No lawmaker spoke in opposition to the bill, which passed the Assembly on a 44-11 vote and now goes to the California state Senate.

If the pet bill is signed into law, motorists would pay a fine of $35 if caught driving with a live animal on their lap.

Uno, named top Dog

Dog Names

Every now and them we receive an email from someone giving us their dogs name and they tell us why they named them with that name. I'd like to share this email and we see how unique names come about.

"I just found your site and wanted to let you know that our sable Chinese Shar-Pei we had for 13 years was named Ripli. I tried to think of a name that would describe her endless wrinkles without being cutesy pootsey and frou-frou. I came up with that name because I used to skim rocks on the ponds at the farm when I was little. You see, I grew up on a farm. The ripples seemed to go on forever across the pond; you couldn't tell where they stopped...just like her wrinkles. They started at the top of her head and didn't stop until her tail, but looking at her from the front, they went on forever. You might not think that her name was that unique, but we liked it. She was the only Ripli at my vet's office...until someone waiting in my vet's office one day heard me call her name and then named her new puppy the same durn thing. I just told Ripli that it was O.K. since she was the original Ripli-Dog. We sure do miss her crazy self.

This has got to be the funniest dog toy I have ever seen. You just can't help but laugh when you see a dog with this in his mouth. Why not get one for your pooch for Christmas and give all your neighbors a laugh when you go for a walk? Or just think what a Christmas card would be like if you put a Santa hat on your dog plus the teeth!!
